The Tea on Tea
It’s no secret that I am the most extreme of tea fanatics! Anyone that knows me, knows I always carry some extra tea bags around in my purse and my kitchen cabinets are filled with cute mugs to sip from. But what a lot of people do not know, is how beneficial tea can be to our health, minds, and bodies. Usually stacked with natural ingredients that can help with a multitude of ailments, tea is something that everyone could use a little more of in their lives! And that is why I am here- to give you the tea on tea!
Ahh, the powerhouse of teas! I am a firm believer that a cup of green tea a day, helps keep the doctor away. With powerful antioxidants and nutrients, green tea can help improve brain function, jump start fat loss and boost metabolism, and lower the risk of cancer. Green tea is rich in polyphenols- mainly EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate)- which is the compound that has been shown to treat various kinds of diseases. They reduce inflammation, reduce the formation of free radicals in the body, and also protect cells from damage. They also can have anti-aging properties to them! The low, yet still traceable, amounts of caffeine in green tea have been shown to increase brain function in a more stable and less “jittery” manner than coffee. Green tea can also help boost metabolic rates and increase fat burning potential- guaranteed “green tea” can be found on an abundance of fat burning supplements’ ingredients’ lists! With it as a powerful of antioxidants, green tea may also reduce the risk of cancer- with drinkers less likely to develop breast, prostate, and colorectal cancers.

Chamomile tea can also be used as an anti-inflammatory throughout the body and a liver-protectant. It can help soothe stomach issues and keep toxins from building up within your GI tract as well! Another tea with powerful antioxidants in rooibos tea! Very similar to that of green tea, rooibos tea has antioxidants that can protect the liver from oxidative stress- helping your liver remain more resilient to damage! The antioxidants can also help reduce toxins within the body, and lower blood pressure. Rooibos tea can also relax tense muscles and reduce stress- much like chamomile tea. It does not contain any caffeine either!
